Has everyone seen the new Captain America film? Not going to bother? Well, I’m about to talk about something that happens in the film – it occurs in the first five minutes, so not much of a spoiler, but just in case.
If you’ve seen it, you’ll remember that the first part shows a young Tony talking with his parents. There’s a piano, a grumpy Howard, a Maria that looks nothing like how I pictured her, but oh well. And his parents are on their way out, and Tony tells them he loves them.
Turns out it’s all a hologram. “Not how it really happened,” Tony says (I’m paraphrasing, of course, I only saw it once!) “but how I wished it had gone.”
We can talk about Tony Stark spending millions on his own personal holodeck instead of going to therapy all we like, but his idea of changing a memory has definite merit.
